After recent program upgrade, many users are using Cantata instead of GMPC. This tip will explain how to install and configure Cantata.

Before starting please make sure that you already installed EasyMPD at Alix and finished Initial Setup Wizard successfully.

The IP address of Alix will be used for MPD Client setting because MPD Client can find Alix in network with the IP address. The user should figure out the IP address of Alix and should enter it to the configuration of MPD Client program. Fortunately we can easily find the Alix's IP address from the status page of EasyMPD WEB GUI.(If you don't know how to open EasyMPD WEB GUI, please check this link.)
Below is example of the status page on EasyMPD WEB GUI. It shows '192.168.10.12' for Alix's IP address.

Download Cantata installation file for Windows or MAC OS X from below link and install it at your computer.

Install it at your Windows computer.
Run Cantata after finishing installation. Select 'References' at the menu that appears from the menu button, the three lines button at the top right.
Fill out Collection Settings as below.

  1. At Host, enter the Alix's IP address that you've got from the status page of EasyMPD WEB GUI.
  2. At Music Folder, enter 'http://Alix's IP address/coverart/' as below example picture.
  3. At Cover filename, enter the file name you use for album cover art file in the album folder.

Apply the changes with clicking 'Apply' and 'OK' consecutively.
You can add the song from left windows to right Playlist and play the song.
If you want to update MPD database, select 'Refresh Database' at the menu that appears from the menu button, the three lines button at the top right. And then it asks 'Refresh MPD Database'. Select 'Refresh'.
